Millions Will Continue to be Slaughtered if Nothing Changes

That is the number of confirmed deaths in the United States related to COVID-19 as I am recording this podcast on the evening of May 18, 2021. A tragedy, to be sure. We remember that this is more than just a number. Those are grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles, mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, and in rare cases, sons and daughters. One of those was my father-in-law, Gary Snell, a faithful member of the Door Christian Church in Chandler, AZ. It’s still hard to believe that even now, he’s enjoying the presence of Jesus, being absent from the body. It’s shocking to think about 580K+ other people just in America who have gone into eternity due to this heinous virus. Think for a moment about the absence left behind in its wake. Consider how many birthday celebrations that won’t occur this year, the Christmas gifts that won’t be received or given, the chairs at the dinner table that won’t be filled.
Now consider with me that 580K is less than half of the 1.3 million lives that never got the chance to live outside their mother’s wombs every single year in the United States of America. Their lives were cut short by the viruses of convenience, vanity, and desertion. Nearly 25 more babies have been dismembered, suctioned out, and thrown away by the time you finish listening to this podcast. Since Roe vs. Wade allowed abortion up until the moment of birth in January of 1973, there have been a total of 62,832,646 lives destroyed. And this only counts surgical abortions. The Pharmacists for Life organization estimates that approximately 250 million babies were chemically aborted since 1973 in the USA alone. The current US population stands at over 332M. Can you fathom that our nation has purposefully destroyed the combined near-equivalent of our current US population through the act of abortion? You need to soak this in. You need to care about this. You can’t continue to ignore this without recognizing the great evil that we have allowed under our noses in nearly every community of our nation.
How many doctors, scientists, athletes, musicians, pastors, legislators, governors, veterinarians, bakers, teachers, parents, accountants, nurses, police officers, engineers, authors, entrepreneurs, plumbers, builders, painters never got their chance to make a mark in our world?
The shocking loss of life from abortion equals a Nazi holocaust every other year. And so far, we are only talking about US abortions. This does not even take into consideration those abortions performed in the other 194 nations. According to http://www.numberofabortions.com, which has live counters of various abortion statistics, 1,615,304,144 abortions have been performed worldwide since the year 1980. Again, this DOES NOT count chemical abortifacients like mifepristone. These are CONSERVATIVE estimates of how many tiny human lives are maimed and suctioned from what ought to be the most protected place on planet earth, the womb of her own mother.
Let me remind you that abortion is not a cute minor procedure that carries the moral weight of wart removal. It is an act of extreme violence. I want to quote from the words of a former abortionist, Dr. Anthony Levantino, as he describes a D & E abortion procedure (stands for Dilation and Evacuation). This procedure happens about 159,600 times every year (12% of all abortions) in pregnancies after 13 weeks of gestation. The baby is about three inches long, has fingerprints, hair follicles, and a beating heart capable of transporting twenty-three liters of blood per day:
“Imagine for a moment that you are a “pro-choice” obstetrician-gynecologist as I once was. Your patient today is seventeen years old and she is twenty weeks pregnant. At twenty weeks, her uterus is up to her umbilicus and she has been feeling her baby kick for the last two weeks. If you could see her baby, she would be as long as your hand from the top of her head to the bottom of her rump not counting the legs. Your patient is now asleep on an operating room table with her legs in stirrups. Upon entering the room after scrubbing, you dry your hands with a sterile towel and are gowned and gloved by the scrub nurse.
The first task is remove the laminaria that had earlier been placed in the cervix to dilate it sufficiently to allow the procedure you are about to perform. With that accomplished, direct your attention to the surgical instruments arranged on a small table to your right. The first instrument you reach for is a 14-French suction catheter. It is clear plastic and about nine inches long. It has a bore through the center approximately 3/4 of an inch in diameter. Picture yourself introducing the catheter through the cervix and instructing the circulating nurse to turn on the suction machine which is connected through clear plastic tubing to the catheter. What you will see is a pale yellow fluid the looks a lot like urine coming through the catheter into a glass bottle on the suction machine. This amniotic fluid surrounded the baby to protect her.
With suction complete, look for your Sopher clamp. This instrument is about thirteen inches long and made of stainless steel. At one end are located jaws about 2 inches long and about an an inch wide with rows of sharp ridges or teeth. This instrument is for grasping and crushing tissue. When it gets hold of something, it does not let go.
A second trimester D&E abortion is a blind procedure. The baby can be in any orientation or position inside the uterus. Picture yourself reaching in with the Sopher clamp and grasping anything you can. At twenty weeks gestation, the uterus is thin and soft so be careful not to perforate or puncture the walls. Once you have grasped something inside, squeeze on the clamp to set the jaws and pull hard — really hard. You feel something let go and out pops a fully formed leg about 4 to 5 inches long. Reach in again and grasp whatever you can. Set the jaw and pull really hard once again and out pops an arm about the same length. Reach in again and again with that clamp and tear out the spine, intestines, heart and lungs.
The toughest part of a D&E abortion is extracting the baby’s head. The head of a baby that age is about the size of a plum and is now free floating inside the uterine cavity. You can be pretty sure you have hold of it if the Sopher clamp is spread about as far as your fingers will allow. You will know you have it right when you crush down on the clamp and see a pure white gelatinous material issue from the cervix. That was the baby’s brains. You can then extract the skull pieces. If you have a really bad day like I often did, a little face may come out and stare back at you.”
Congratulations! You have just successfully performed a Suction D&E abortion. You just affirmed her right to choose. You just made $600 cash in fifteen minutes.”
That is abortion. It is ugly. It is violent. It is tragic. We cannot stop caring about the innocent boys and girls made in the image of God being dumped into medical waste bins every day.
If you’re wondering why I’m talking about abortion today, it’s because of the news that the Supreme Court Will Take Up Mississippi Abortion Ban Case That Could Limit Roe v. Wade. We must be in prayer that the court will uphold Mississippi’s abortion ban after 15 weeks. Does it fix the problems caused by Roe v. Wade? Not even close. But it will outlaw the practice after 15 weeks of gestation and will save millions of lives. That would be a massive win.
There was a time in our nation’s history when slavery was an accepted practice, a necessary evil. Today, we look back in horror that our forefathers could allow such apparent evil to exist. Is it possible that generations in the future will one day look back with horror and disgust at these 50 years in America where we permitted the massacre of an entire generation?
